We carry both OEM CertainTeed rolls and Reinforced Polyethylene (RPE) equivalents that meet the same permeance specs at lower cost. The gotcha: CertainTeed’s MemBrain uses a proprietary variable-permeance polyamide layer - a moisture-responsive film that opens and closes to vapor drive - and generic RPE cannot replicate that function. • Sump pump running more frequently. The encapsulation isn’t just the liner - it’s the sealed envelope. Gaps at the rim joist or failed tape seams let humid outside air contact cool surfaces, and the dehumidifier or sump works overtime to compensate.
• Insect or rodent activity under the liner. Tears as small as a quarter let pests nest between the liner and soil, and their body heat accelerates condensation.
